Song becomes picture book




Can a song become a children’s picture book?

 The answer is yes. 

John Schumann, songwriter, poet, singer and musician wrote about the Vietnam War in his song I Was Only 19.  

 The very talented Craig Smith has illustrated John Schumann’s lyrics to create a moving picture book for children aged 8+, and adults that adore picture books (like me!). 

 I hope it helps you better understand and reflect on the Vietnam War.

    Thank you Miss, I enjoyed the book very much.My favourite part was when he was reminding everyone that he was too young to go into war.

    I'm so glad you enjoyed the book. It's very thought-provoking. I can't imagine being so young and having to go off to war.
